Description
Many of Yrjö Kukkapuro’s product series have been created in collaboration with architects. The A500 series, too, originally came about as part of the design process for a Swedish hospital. The architect wanted a seating series to bring life to the setting, one that would combine ergonomics, ease of use and the possibility of enlivening the surroundings with colours. At the end of the postmodern period, in 1985, the A500 product family was born. The A-509 rocking chair was added to the series after the birth of a grandchild in 1986, at the wish of Kukkapuro’s wife Irmeli to have a rocking chair for sitting with the baby.
