Karuselli, 1964
Karuselli is Yrjö Kukkapuro’s best-known work
He wrapped himself in chicken wire and made a plaster cast of his body to make the chair as ergonomic as possible. Karuselli was launched in 1964.

Master of Finnish design
Yrjö Kukkapuro (1933–2025) is one of our most internationally renowned and award-winning furniture designers and a key modernist in Finnish furniture design. Kukkapuro’s design work was based on both aesthetic and functional innovation, user experience, and ergonomics.
Objects designed by Kukkapuro are on display in permanent exhibitions at the Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
